[00:00:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Welcome everyone to another episode of Rift Walkers.

[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_05]: We're gonna start off with rolling Destiny Points and obligation.

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_05]: For obligation, I rolled a 4 which means that reds obligation is activated.

[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_05]: That's not going to be a return of the Rye!

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Everyone will have one less to their strained threshold

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_05]: and red will have two less to his strained threshold.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Roger Dodger?

[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Now we will roll for the story pool and I got a dark side point.

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_05]: So that will go into the GM pool?

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I rolled a light side point so that's going to go for the player pool.

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_07]: I rolled two dark side points which will go to GM pool.

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I rolled two light side points for the player pool.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I rolled two light side points for the player pool too.

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I rolled two for the player pool.

[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_05]: And I rolled one for the GM pool.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_05]: The party.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_05]: The wolves of Ironwood have departed toward the distant continent of Viridian

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_05]: to track down their quarry the fibers of Ironwood.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_05]: A board, the tide breaker, captain by Captain Orius,

[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_05]: another of the Ironwood companies, men along with their handler, Eres L.C.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_05]: The group sets sail.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Under way, the journey will take approximately one month

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_05]: for the tide breaker and its sister ship to arrive on Viridian's distant shores.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_05]: The first day at sea, it's sunny, calm and the winds carry you far.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Over the course of this month long travel, Sarako does a lot of the same stuff

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_06]: that he would normally do practicing his swordsmanship,

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_06]: that sort of thing getting his sea legs under him,

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_06]: getting up at a late hour, as late as he can manage without upsetting the captain of the crew.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Because I believe everybody is expected to put in some sort of work.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_06]: You're expected to pull a little late here and there.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And Sarako will pull as much weight as required,

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_06]: and all other weight he will gladly try to pawn off on somebody else.

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_06]: At some point within the first week or so of the travels, Sarako finds himself wandering about the deck,

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_06]: and he spies the captain up near the helm,

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_06]: and being over the opportunist, Sarako will approach the captain and say,

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_06]: hello my friend, captain Ores, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Sarako, is it?

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, indeed, that is me.

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Sarako cast a lad in the house, cast a lad,

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_06]: and he will take off his tricorn hat, and he will give a nice deep bow to the captain.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_05]: The captain doesn't return your bow, but we'll just kind of cross his arms and smile, amused,

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_05]: and say, wow what can I do here for Sarako?

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Captain Sarako says as he replaces his hat, tell me, you have been to the radiant before, no?

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_05]: A number of times yes.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_06]: So you are quite well acquainted with it.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Hmm, I wouldn't go so far as to see that.

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_05]: A few men get in the light, can see they're truly acquainted with their radiant.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_05]: You must understand, Ori, the story is about it or not all true.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_06]: So you are telling me that it is not the land of gold and opportunities that I was promised by the Ironwood Company,

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_06]: and I will not be finding a...

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Perhaps you will, Sarako. Perhaps not.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_05]: I think though you might be indeed a little history lesson then, eh?

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I am not acquainted with the history of the radiant,

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_06]: so I will not say no, do a little lesson,

[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_06]: if that is what you are proposing to give me now.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Of course, you're in luck by Ibo and friend.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_05]: I guess it might self-adventive a scholar.

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_05]: My family wants to cry, then it's vast libraries.

[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Before we were, wrongfully hosted for our old things.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_05]: They even saw any taps the side it was head.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_05]: I have something out of a library of me all now.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_05]: What would you like to know?

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_06]: It sort of tells me as far as you know, what can we expect in the radiant?

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_06]: There are outputs there, yes, but as I understand it,

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_06]: there are many lands yet untamed.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_05]: To know where they are, you must first know where it is.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Take a seat and he'll just gesture over to a banister nearby

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_05]: where you can kind of laze in the wind.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Sarako will just prop himself up, get kind of comfortable

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_06]: and lean over onto one arm

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_06]: and just lend an ear to whatever the captain has to say.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_05]: The captain will direct the homesmen to maintain course

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_05]: and then he'll come saddle up beside you.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_05]: It is said, my highborn friend,

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_05]: that before the gods full of end-dozens and generations ago,

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_05]: further back then, even I can trace my only edge.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_05]: But an arrow was known by a different name.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_05]: What? Who knows? What's the history that one?

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_05]: But some say it was surrounded by a ring of impenetrable mountains.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_05]: You see, are people never knew the great oceans of the world?

[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_05]: But the lands that lay beyond, the tail gets, what are they there?

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Some say the old gods were killed,

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_05]: the poes, or even made to walk in martial shoes.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Regardless, a very little cataclysm followed,

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_05]: with an arrow's barren.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Those trapped within it were trapped no longer.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_05]: There was some, ah, no six, seven hundred years ago,

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_05]: far as I reckon. And ever since we'd been making away on the waves.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_05]: First, my friend, we settled the southern continent

[00:06:13] [SPEAKER_05]: of a different aros that came apart in that event.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Kildoros means what was lost is now found.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Something like that, magic, I think.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_05]: At that nearby Masken crew member, who's just like coiling a loose rope together,

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_05]: meets your eyes and gives you what the little shake of his head.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Anywho, what came next was the pinnacle strand, see?

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_05]: And we believed at first that that was Viridian.

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And reality is a small island chain southwest of the continent, the compact.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_05]: And even that old bastard, go on.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Like to say, we've been on Viridian for nine to centuries, I'm sure you've heard.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_05]: But that's hogwash.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_05]: We settled the pinnacle share of Viridian itself is still all too new.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_05]: That I've been plotting a little faded voyages.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Some even have our own making.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_05]: But officially, the compacts only been on Viridian for a few decades.

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Perhaps?

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm not getting a foothold share, but not nearly enough to know what unveils hells

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_05]: going on there, not rightly so.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_05]: The compacts have Iived in its colonies by sheer force of will and almost infinite wealth

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_05]: being poured over the sea.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_05]: But even they had a war, boy.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Our own strongholds been abandoned for years now, lost mere months after we finished building it.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_05]: You know why, Serako?

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_05]: No.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_05]: No, illuminate me.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_05]: They say the land itself is hostile.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_05]: It's like it doesn't want us to be there.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_05]: There are rumours, you see.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_05]: But we aren't the only ones trying to set all that a curse place.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I've heard stories from afted boy roots who swore they'd never touch the water again.

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_05]: They spoke of strange, flat face men with twisting arms and wild air.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Now I'm not superstitious and all of the unknown ones say what?

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_05]: But there's something there, my highborn friend.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Something where not supposed to fight.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_05]: He suddenly grows very serious actually and you see his eyes dart around looking for something in particular

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_05]: and upon not finding it he leans in a little closer so you can barely hear his voice

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_05]: even above the waves and ocean breeze.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Tharred to the north.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Where Veredians, northern tip joins two other lads.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And a spot of ocean called the Asinian Sea.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_05]: There's something brilliant.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_05]: I felt them the wind and seen it on the faces of the compact scouts who never make it own to their mothers.

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_05]: And then his usual composure returns.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Dye with enough that dirty talk.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_05]: I'll say this one last thing boy and then best get back to doing other things.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Keep an eye on those void touch among you.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Veredians are right with the stuff.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And at that, Sorako raises an eyebrow.

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Perhaps this land is even more fantastical than I thought.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you, Akapatan Veredetel.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_06]: I shall take it to heart.

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_06]: And with that Sorako will hop up off of the banister that he was lounging on.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And he's just going to go about the rest of his day back to what he was doing, making himself

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_06]: either busier scarce.

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Close to somewhere around the halfway point of this journey.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Sorako will go and he will find Finn.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_06]: If in, I need your help with something.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_06]: You are aware of what he is called a metronome.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_06]: You know what this does?

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_06]: It keeps time.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, I need one and you are very good at building.

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_06]: So if you build me one, I will give you a money.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Or you build one for free because we are friends.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_04]: No.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_04]: I will do it for something but not for coin.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Money has little use for me there.

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, very good.

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Then we do a for friendship.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_06]: So a no coin you make me metronome.

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Consider it a favor.

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_04]: You will owe me.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Very interesting.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Very good Finn.

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_06]: And then unless a shake on it and Sorako will extend his hand.

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Finn extends a wary hand but does grip it surely.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, Finn.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Now that we have shake hands, it is law.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Iron bound.

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_06]: You cannot back out so you do not give me metronome a given of favor.

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_04]: You will have your time piece.

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, very good.

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_06]: That is it.

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Good day to you Finn.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_06]: I go now to do work and Sorako will just leave out the door and disappear elsewhere on the ship.

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay.

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And then for the rest of the month for anybody that cares to notice, Sarako will implement

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_06]: the metronome as soon as he gets it from Finn into his daily sword routine.

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Seeming to use it to keep his movements in time and to practice the speed and the flow of his sword.

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_00]: In the month they are on the ship.

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Iron ore takes into consideration of the words of Sorako that he had previously before they got

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: back.

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Talking about how he said to give Kai a chance as well as other people.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And so in his free time, while he is not helping with the ship or attending meetings or whatever

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_00]: there may be he is drawing up battle formations for the group and trying to tolerate certain members of his party more and give them a chance.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Towards the end of their journey, Arnor is going to approach Eres.

[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Hello Eres, I have a question for you.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_05]: You find Eres below deck.

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_05]: She is perusing some documents that she has brought along and as you approach her and address

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_05]: her she'll just look over the lip of one of these and say, what can I do for you?

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I would like your opinion on which of the Viper's Divine would wish to go after next.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Judging from the debriefing on Kowback, I would say Etherworld would be the next best bit.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_00]: The interactions of our group, especially with the newest members and the Viper's, is very limited.

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Is there anything outside of the dossier that I was given on Etherworld that it would be a views to our group?

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_05]: We do know that he stayed at our compound for a time being not too long ago, according to intelligence, but where he went after that is anyone's guess.

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And perhaps he's left something there, maybe a bit of a hint, but perhaps not. It has been a while.

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_05]: One can only hope they got sloppy.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_00]: So Etherworld and then, what of the other Viper's?

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I've only ever met or really just seen a few of them.

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_05]: What have them?

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think they're all fleeing from Ironwood because of something Hector is doing?

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Kowback seems to believe that there are things that we are not ready to learn.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_00]: But I think otherwise, I think we are able to make decisions for ourselves.

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Do you know what I think, Arnold?

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_00]: What is that?

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's your job. Okay? Find out why they left and where they're going.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_05]: If I knew, I wouldn't be here.

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_00]: You're right. I thought perhaps you had some insight that we didn't. Sorry for wasting your time.

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Nothing, though.

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, it's so old.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_07]: That's bad, Etherworld.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Alright, man, have a good night and Arnold will walk out.

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_05]: So give you a chewing wave, but there's some affection in it.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_00]: At this point, it's pretty slow going for Arnold.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_00]: He's just kind of waiting for their journey to begin.

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_07]: So I'm going to take you back to the day after they departed on this journey.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_07]: And since Kai is, I think if not the only person, one of the only people in the company

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_07]: or in this party who has experienced on ships before,

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_07]: she's actually going to very quickly assume that role above deck helping Captain Aris

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_07]: with whatever he requires of her and helping with that.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_07]: So she's assuming that role, even within the day of being together on this ship.

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_07]: She sees Settaco come up on deck and will yell over to him in Taylor,

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_07]: being his native tongue to make him a little more comfortable to have a conversation

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_07]: with her and will yell over to Settaco and say,

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Settaco, come over here. Help me with this. I can show you the ropes.

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Settaco turns around and he does that thing where he points out himself

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_06]: and he melts me and then he looks behind him.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And then he pulls over here and he'll approach and as he arrives at where Kai is,

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_06]: he will respond in Taylor.

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Lady Kai, please, how may I be of service?

[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_07]: Here, come over here. Let me show you what you could do to assist me.

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_07]: And so she'll start getting him going on that,

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_07]: and especially being the first exposure I assume to many this line and everything

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_07]: and doing the responsibilities of that. So she'll start in there and she'll walk a little

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_07]: ways away from him but still within, you know, so he can hear her.

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_07]: And she'll just start a conversation up again and Taylor, like you will say,

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_07]: sorry, how's he experienced so far being in this company?

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, what can I say? We go together like Honion Bread.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, at least you and I both being of such a high status.

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_07]: I know, I feel like what kindred spirits don't you?

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yes, yes indeed, but I would not go so far as to put myself on the same platform as you.

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_06]: For surely your status and stature is much greater than my own being from such a humble telecast.

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, please, Sarako, you make me blush.

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_07]: Sarako, we're friends, right?

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, of course. You'll know Lady Kai, I will tell you this much.

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Everybody is my friend but there are only so many people that I can truly relate to

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_06]: and finding one such as yourself of such a refinement and beauty.

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_06]: You truly are one of a kind and you speak Taylor Knulless that is not something that you come across every day.

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_06]: I believe we are quite fortunate to have you in the company.

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_07]: No, it is not something that come across every day, is it?

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_07]: Well, I was just wondering since we're friends and all, why would a friend of mine talk poorly about me?

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_07]: I heard you the other day?

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Are you sure it was me?

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh shit!

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I am not the only child on this ship.

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I'm quite sure. I was looking you right in the eye.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_06]: When was this? I do not know.

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, Sarako, it seems that you have a selective memory.

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_07]: This was literally, let me think one two, oh yes today, that you said there's nasty things about me.

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_07]: Can't explain why?

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Would you care to illuminate my mind? What exactly did I say about you?

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_06]: You see, I do not doubt the veracity of your accusations, but I doubt it in my heart.

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't think that I have said anything, so perhaps if you could feed my words back to me,

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_06]: that would have jogged by memory selective as it is.

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_07]: After Sarako says she'll look at the floor and start to chuckle to herself a little bit,

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_07]: and we'll say, you know, Sarako, you talk too much.

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_07]: And she'll drop whatever line she has in her hands and we'll turn towards you and we'll slowly begin walking towards you.

[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_07]: And as she does, she'll say to you, you talk as if you're this great swordsman,

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_07]: but why you don't know, is that my mother was a great dispenser and all of the confederation,

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_07]: that she taught me all that she knows for the first 30 years of my life?

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Oh, oh, wait! That's longer than you've been alive.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_07]: So understand when I say that I am more than qualified in a fight,

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_07]: where you will meet yoga at best.

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_07]: And at this moment she'll pause as she's walking towards you,

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_07]: look down at the ground again and we'll smile to herself and continue to walk towards you

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_07]: and really, you know, size you up and get up in your face and she'll say,

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_07]: it would be best for you not to make an enemy out of me.

[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_07]: And she'll look sadako dead in the eyes as she says that and we'll continue with.

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I like to imagine that this takes place just on the ship,

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and everyone over here is it, and we're all just standing around watching this conversation

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_03]: happen like five feet away, like, oh, shit!

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_07]: I mean, we're speaking, I think that Kai would be cautious about that

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_07]: to make sure this is between Settako and her, that's why also secretly that's why she's speaking

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_07]: in Taylor, not because that she actually wasn't just, yeah.

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_05]: This is canonically only Kai and Seroca or Prezzo.

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Everyone else isn't just like standing around like, that would be so much funny though.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_07]: Be behind the master something, be like, oh, she said what?

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_06]: With Lady Kai, like right in his face, Seroca will pause for a moment

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_06]: and then arise smile or creep across his face.

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_06]: And he says, I would not dream of it the Lady Kai.

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_06]: And with surprising deafness he finishes tying whatever not he was occupied with without even looking at it.

[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Do not worry, we all have our uses even you.

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Good day, my Lady.

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_06]: And Seroca will walk away.

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_07]: So of course this is early on in their month to journey where she and Seroca have this conversation

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_07]: but the rest of the time with the other members, she really does make an effort to be friendly

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_07]: with them, especially recognizing our North approaching her and trying to speak with her,

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_07]: so they've often, you know, while she's on the ship for the remainder of the month,

[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_07]: she's trying to keep nimble and trying to keep fit and in shape.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_07]: And so she's when she's not helping Captain Arya, she's going to be training above deck

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_07]: and which she sees our North, sees him as somebody who's quite fit as well.

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_07]: So she's invited him to train with her and otherwise.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_07]: But yeah, those are some of the things that she does and tries to, she realizes the error

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_07]: for ways in the relationships with many of the people.

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_07]: So she does her best to forge friendships and relationships with the people that really she's

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_07]: burned bridges with, let's fish it with our North.

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_07]: And that's our main day of our month.

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_03]: For Kel, I think the first week of the voyage, Kel would very much keep to herself.

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it would depend on how much Kai and bread are in the room because we're sharing a room.

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_03]: For God.

[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the first of the movies is so...

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Kel, talk.

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, girl, talk and bread.

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Depending on how much the two of them stay in the room will depend on where she is.

[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_03]: If the two of them are often in the room or are just hanging out in there,

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think she would be in there very much.

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Kel would very much find a space for herself where she can study her folder and learn everything

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_03]: that she can about the Viper that she's been assigned.

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that she would read it front to back as much as she could take her own notes in her own

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_03]: hand, maybe some short hand, add it to the folder in whatever way that she can gather that information.

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Probably about six or seven days in, I think the cabin fever would start to hit because

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think Kel has a whole lot of experience on boats.

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_03]: She travels a lot but I don't think she's ever been out to see and I think she gets seasick.

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_03]: So she's often over the side of the boat throwing up if she's not in her little corner wherever she's found trying to study.

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think about a weekend she would need to like work off the nervous energy so she would probably go to Arnor first

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_03]: and ask if he would want to train with her.

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think also two after the third week on that voyage she would probably go to Sorako as well,

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_03]: knowing that he's also a swordsman and see if he would be willing to train with her also just so that they can stay in shape.

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Keep their skills up today and they would have something to do on the boat.

[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I also think that Kel would be very involved with the strong arm kind of stuff on the boat,

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_03]: like lifting the heavy things, helping a lot of the crew if she can.

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Trying to make herself as useful as possible but also trying to not get in any of the Ironwood company's way.

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So she's avoiding Eris, she's avoiding the other members of the team probably apart from Arnor who is a genuine friend of hers.

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But she kind of just keeps to herself most of the voyage mainly because she's seasick and also because she's just trying to do her job

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_03]: because that's what she's there to do.

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_03]: But the only time you would probably see her on deck is when she's training kind of in the belly of the ship with whoever is willing to train with her.

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_04]: So Finn from the very beginning of journey, he makes it very clear that he is quite adept at looking busy while not actually getting any real work done.

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_04]: So very rarely maybe once or twice like the captain if he's particularly keen eye or something may notice him in like given her specific task to do but by and large,

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_04]: she gets by on most of the journey just tinker in here and there with a couple things picking up a rope every now and then moving a box back and forth, but never actually doing anything really meaningful.

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_04]: What he is doing is during the time he is making contact with and spends a lot of time talking with as many of the crew members as possible.

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_04]: He, you know, just makes him small banter with them. It's a little surprising actually how naturally he's able to hold conversations with just these working sailor men.

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_04]: He enraptures them with a couple of tails about void but every time when things have died down a little bit the people that he's talking with kind of have wrapped up whatever work they're doing.

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_04]: He starts probing towards any myth or legend of the maelstrom that they may have heard about.

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_04]: He knows that they have been on these waters for a while if there is anyone who could have heard tales of this anomaly he's hoping that they will have some additional tidbits to offer him.

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_04]: So by and large those are the conversations he has.

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_05]: And then a crew member who you've come to recognize now as Captain Arrius's first mate, a kind of skinny, maskin named second.

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_05]: You haven't spoken to him really at all. He's been mostly in the captain's proximity who you've been avoiding.

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_05]: And so this is one of the first times that you've found him alone and out of this entire basically empty galley save for a snoozing crewman and maybe one other drunk.

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_05]: It's just you and him and he just looks at you saying nothing.

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_04]: As the mug slams down and Finn turns to see second. He looks up give some a half-grain.

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Ah, I was hoping to catch you eventually but it was not sure that I would never get you without the gaze of the captain.

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_05]: That is what I figured. Tell me. Finius your name is?

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, but please Finn.

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Finn you have been asking questions. You know questions that the captain is not entirely comfortable. You must understand.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I would hope he would not become stable with certain questions.

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_04]: But while we're on the topic what specifically is it that he is not comfortable with?

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_05]: You must understand Finn. The radian is a land right with mystery.

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_05]: The crew is already unsettled. The captain does what he can to keep morale at a manageable level,

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_05]: but sailors are a superstitious lot. The more we talk, the more we hear, the more our minds just go crazy.

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Thinking, wondering, inventing? Then perhaps it was the captain's mistake allowing an inventor on board.

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_04]: And before second can say anything he offers him a wide smile and just says, I just...

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Second laughs of full belly laugh at this. Even given his kind of sinew-y build, he just has this like really full deep laugh.

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_05]: What is good? That is good. But you know what I speak of, yes.

[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_04]: I admit it is not entirely lighthearted conversation. I have with the crew on board.

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I have questions. I myself have perhaps given in to too much of this thinking, as you say.

[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I understand the necessity of keeping order on a vessel such as this, and I have tried my best to not insight on do panic or worry amongst the crew.

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_04]: But for there is no reason to. I simply as an interested party would have my own concerns about things we,

[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_04]: of the company might find once we reach for it in. Simply trying to do my due diligence as it were and look from my professional experience,

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_04]: those who travel no most about myth and legend.

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I hesitate to speak for fear of disappointing you. You see, I tie the company's ropes. I lift the company's crates.

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_05]: I chart the course for the company's ships when it comes to things of mystery. I know little.

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_05]: But I know enough to keep my mouth shut in company where it is unwelcome.

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_05]: He slips a knife out of his belt and he pushes his mug aside, and then in the tabletop he curves a little triangle pointing up.

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And he says, this is the most northern tip of the rebellion.

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_05]: And then gesturing with the knife above the triangle, here is the Ascendancy, largely uncharted, so this compacts it.

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_05]: But here, and then imagine if you will that this triangle is in a clock and it's at the six o'clock position.

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_05]: He draws another triangle at the ten o'clock position and then a third one at the two o'clock position.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_05]: When he says, here pointing at the left one, this we call the forge lines.

[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_05]: No one has stepped foot there. Frozen, wastes, but perhaps to my people who will be quite amenable.

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And here, he points at the right one. It's not at all yet.

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_05]: More rocky wastes, but here, between them all and he puts the knife right in the middle of the three, is some sort of low guy, power, energy, so sailors say.

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_05]: But when you trust the word of a sailor who will just as easily pick your pocket before singing songs of side-rins of the southern coast, you must take it all with as much salt as there is in the sea.

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_05]: A fin and then he'll push himself up and head for the door.

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_04]: The word you go and he pulls out of his pocket, this crumpled piece of paper that he's kind of sketched up himself.

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_04]: And he lays it just over top of these sketch marks that he etched into the table.

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_04]: And almost perfectly as it were in the middle between where those three triangles would be our a reimagining of what he had seen in his room,

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_04]: just this mesh and entanglement of words and symbols and signs that viewed from kind of a distance in a squinted eye, all amalgamate together in this rotating spiral.

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_04]: You may not be as crazy as you think.

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_04]: And even you have not picked my pocket yet. They may just be sirens or worse. Where you have described.

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you. He gives him a nod and he's going to turn and kind of look back at this thing that he's laid over on the table and completely ignore anything else that's going on around him.

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Well second will speak up before he leaves and he goes, I'll say this.

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Phidious. There are those perhaps outside the company, perhaps within it that wish all there is in that stretch of sea are sirens. Oh, sailors tales.

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_05]: I am crazy, I'll admit, but perhaps only half as crazy as you when speaking with those who are less crazy mind your tongue for your own sake and hell not and turn.

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Really, for the rest of the journey aside from casual conversation with the others and after the conversation with the second,

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Phid does pull back from probing the last few of the crew that he still had on his list. He's not too curious to push them out or with anyone else.

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_04]: But he will spend the rest of his days just continue tinkering, building, studying this piece of paper and otherwise keeping to himself.

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe hours into their journey at the beginning of the month it occurs to bread that it would be very useful for him to be able to be a sailor should he need to be.

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_01]: So he is quite keen to learn from anyone who will teach him so he is an app student and a very quick learner.

[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_01]: He's not, you know, the strongest among the crew by any means but he is good at doing what needs to be done and figuring things out as needed.

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_01]: He also sets himself up as like a ship's doctor assuming that there is not one already present on board. And if there is then he will, you know, assist or

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_01]: to consume depending on how skillful that individual is, I think he also finds plenty of opportunities to irritate and pest or eras just because he seems to have found some weird little like button to push with her.

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And he finds that amusing.

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm sure she's dreadfully sick of him like two days in but he does not let up on that.

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_01]: He's also very receptive to Kaiser Temp's at friendliness and like if she's willing to teach him things, he will learn from her.

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_01]: He is not keen to have made enemies and he knows that he has, you know, sort of met Kaiser energy where it's at.

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And not been particularly friendly to her so he'll reciprocate that.

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Primarily though he is keeping a very nervous eye on Kel post this inoculation procedure that she underwent like being injected with this false plague.

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that he really thinks that that was nothing. So he's not like actively seeking her out to be like, let me examine you but he is keeping a very weather eye on her and then maybe like day three of the horrible nausea.

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Will like mix up a little like anti-seekness paste thing and go take it to her as she's vomiting over the side of the ship.

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_01]: It just sort of like, you know, coming up next to her and offering this in a cup and just saying, how do you feelin?

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Like shit. I hope you don't mind me saying but she looks like shit.

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't mind because it's true.

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I do smell like that.

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Very sympatheticly passing this, you know, paste over say this should help.

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Kel will happily take it whatever you give to her and hope that the nausea goes away as quickly as it can.

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_01]: He will, you know, stay quiet for a moment as this begins to work and then say to her, have you felt anything since, you know, the incident for lack of a better word?

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a good question, Ryan. Have I felt anything since my near death?

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_05]: No. Well, seeing as it wasn't really a sickness and just something designed to emulate it, the only lasting effects are psychological.

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think Kel would take stock of herself and how she's feeling and kind of almost confused.

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Shaker hadn't say, no I feel all right. Like I did before just weird. Weird how exactly mentally?

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, thanks so it's just, you know, didn't expect someone from my own company to poison me. I guess it's a bit unexpected but, can we really call the members of our own company anymore?

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, hit the nail on the fucking head with that one. You know, I don't know. I guess that's why we're out here, isn't it?

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_03]: It is. Thank you for what you did.

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_03]: That's my job. I know, but as we've seen just because it's your job doesn't mean you're going to do it correctly or do it right. So thank you. Nonetheless.

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate your thanks. If you do feel anything at all, let me know. I mean, hello and it'll leave a scars on a person even if it's not the hollow and proper.

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you need to talk to somebody, I do have personal experience.

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll keep that in mind. Thank you.

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_01]: If you need any more of that paste, let me know.

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I will. Thank you. And if you need anything, you let me know.

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_01]: If I think it's something I will. Fair enough, he will not and leave Kel to her. Hopefully no longer vomiting related business.

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_01]: She still weirdly pale but like the green tint is subsiding a little bit.

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. Fantastic. Okay.

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_01]: For the remainder of the journey, bread is very preoccupied with listening to seeking out following that like sort of dreadful excitement that he felt before they left when he found that rat and you know.

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Did his okey spooky business? I don't know how to describe it.

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Just kind of like I don't think that that feeling has left him and I think he is unconsciously keeping an eye out for literally anything else that is dead.

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll jump at the first opportunity to reconnect with that.

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_05]: On the eve of your arrival in Viridian, after given a detail to head below deck to the lowest deck and help take inventory and stock at the cargo, bread, find some self alone, just with a small slate

[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and writing utensil going around checking off boxes and whatnot by lamplight. And as you head near the af of the ship, again just in the deepest part of the hole, you raise your lamp as you turn and you see there's just a rat.

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Strong up with this like tiny, new swinging with the ship's movements right in front of you.

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I think he is surprised like genuinely shocked by this but I think instinctively he reaches out to take it with his left hand, the black one.

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And you're gonna use your ability? Oh yeah, baby. I'm gonna use it activate that power.

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_03]: What is happening? What is going on?

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_01]: The rat hated being on the ship so much. Do I off-leapt this one?

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Is there a guillotine too? Like what is this?

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Season two has some really subtle undertones about lab-rat cruelty.

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how to make that.

[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so excited to have a word of that.

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_03]: British is building a little maze with a button at the end of it and just put him in.

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_01]: That's his deep dark secret he actually trains rats.

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_05]: As you reach out to feel an emotion and impression from this thing that you have communed within the past,

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_05]: this rat presented so neatly for you as offering,

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_05]: you feel a sense of just burgeoning excitement.

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_05]: But this subtle undertone of dread of something coming and impending doom that is unavoidable.

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_05]: And as you're just suddenly awash with hopelessness this connection is severed.

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_05]: And you feel something that in all your time of commuting with whatever void-born thing this is.

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_05]: You've never known it to no fear.

[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_02]: What's coming?

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_05]: It's gone.

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's just you and a hang-in-rette.

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_01]: A bread will pull the rat on its knees down from the ceiling.

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And continue on as if nothing had happened.

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Then you don't think fins the crazy thing.

[00:41:30] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, on its knees.

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_03]: The craziest but prettiest.

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what happened in here.

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, for it to come back being like,

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_06]: oh hey one more thing about that paste I have to ask you and just like,

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_06]: rat boy over here.

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_05]: On the morning of your final day,

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_05]: you're arrival in the reach as it's known.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_05]: This fjord carved valley that your ship,

[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_05]: the tide-breaker, and its sister ship, the wind-hell, are making for.

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Captain Array is addresses the entirety of the ship's crew.

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_05]: Your selves included as you've been called up.

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And just you know, gives you a small timeline of when you should be expected to make anchor in this bay.

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_05]: And then describes the three four mile hike to the keep that sits at the top of these cliffs and a little inland.

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_05]: However, as he's doing so bread,

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I would like you to roll a four difficulty arcana check.

[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_02]: You got it.

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I'm skilled enough con at all, probably not.

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm going to flip a story point to make one of those purples a red.

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Why did you do that to me?

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'll give you a boost because of the previous night's interaction.

[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh sweet, okay.

[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Four failure, five advantage.

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Whoa!

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Bread's looking complete wrong way.

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Like nothing.

[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Be like, ever like land, home and bread's not.

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm not seeing it guys.

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_01]: That does not inspire excitement.

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_05]: As the captain is speaking, your ears just begin to ring.

[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And you are once again beset by this strange weight.

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_05]: This hopelessness, this existential dread.

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Like why are you even here?

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_05]: What do you even mean?

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_05]: And then your eyes flip to the wind helm,

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_05]: the other ship that is mooring in this bay.

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_05]: And you see someone waving their hands frantically above their head

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_05]: and then a second later the entire ship erupts in a ball of flame.

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Scattering blood and wood and bones.
