Blood Run: Episode 2

[00:00:01] On the perilous roads of Heracliah, the party of Gavrodas, Vanityl, Barnaby and Reaper have joined up with a driver from the Scarlet Covenant their employer.

[00:00:16] In order to transport a package what they thought was a shipment of divine blood, safely to the distant port two-meter, and then from there, cross the ocean.

[00:00:28] They discovered however that it was not nearly blood, but a girl.

[00:00:33] And now, settled upon the wagon or at its side, they begin their trek, the clock ticking two days in counting.

[00:00:41] I won't go ahead and make a roll for the driver, just right off the bat, and this will be a driving rule.

[00:00:49] I hope he's good at that.

[00:00:50] He's ready! Got a driving!

[00:00:53] Even though this is a hard driving check.

[00:00:56] I mean, with a name like the driver you'd hope he would be.

[00:00:59] We still don't know this idiot's name.

[00:01:01] The Reaper, the hunter, the driver.

[00:01:05] Oh, he gets two successes, two threats and one triumph.

[00:01:10] Which means that anything that happens along the road that befalls you is not his fault.

[00:01:16] We will blame him.

[00:01:20] With those two threats, I'll say his butt is pretty chapped by this point.

[00:01:27] The majority of the day passes by without incidents.

[00:01:33] It's almost eerily quiet, and a lot of you can switch out who's sitting in the back or who's on the cart, whatever you wish,

[00:01:40] covered us in Vanityle, but as sunset nears, and the small military town of Torvus is on the horizon,

[00:01:49] just to the south, off to your right.

[00:01:52] The driver looks at a lot of you and says,

[00:01:55] It's a lie, it's stopped before the gauntlet.

[00:01:57] If we want anything of worth, I say we push on through.

[00:02:01] But yeah, what am I saying?

[00:02:03] You just said that you would push through.

[00:02:05] I agree with you.

[00:02:07] I think that we do not read to risk the time to stop in Torvus.

[00:02:11] And he looks at Reaper, kind of raising an eyebrow, incredibly.

[00:02:16] Throughout the day, Reaper has been progressively feeding the girl, but to food from her hand, like she's training an animal to trust her.

[00:02:23] And she will kind of like shrug and say,

[00:02:26] Better not to risk the cargo.

[00:02:28] In town, I mean.

[00:02:30] Yes, yes, exactly. I agree. It is too...

[00:02:33] To many eyes.

[00:02:35] Too much curiosity to be around, the travelers come through a girl.

[00:02:39] I don't know.

[00:02:40] Being obviously traffic, yes.

[00:02:43] And he just kind of like shrugs us, yep, obviously.

[00:02:47] So you're going to just wailfully acknowledge what we're doing.

[00:04:57] Seeing how this whole bone process works.

[00:04:59] I feel on them continually interested to see how the

[00:05:03] games that you play play out.

[00:05:13] Anyways, and he kind of props himself up slightly in the cart and seeks out

[00:05:18] where Gabriel Dosses is he close enough to the cart that you know he could either have been hearing this conversation

[00:05:31] Well, Vanityle will search him out and find him close enough to the cart and just say,

[00:06:27] Well, hearing Barnaby's thoughts on stopping or going Vanityle will just turn back towards the driver and say,

[00:06:43] There's a good chance we'll get through the gauntlet.

[00:07:30] All dice have canceled out for Gabadass.

[00:07:33] And same for Barnaby.

[00:07:35] Then both of you will take four strain as you near the gauntlet.

[00:07:41] It is this mountain range that stretches north to south.

[00:07:47] North to south from the ocean to the inner continent of Rarnaro's past,

[00:07:54] Hutteraclias borders.

[00:07:56] Here, whether through nature or willpower of mortals, there is a canyon.

[00:08:04] Sometimes narrow, sometimes wide that etches its way through this perilous path.

[00:08:12] It's sides sheer for the most part, sloping slightly upward hundreds of feet.

[00:08:19] Sometimes lower, sometimes more.

[00:08:22] But here, at the mouth it's pretty far up.

[00:08:25] There's really no other way around and no other way to the inner country of heraclias.

[00:08:31] So the gauntlet, it is.

[00:08:33] They're a small watch post just outside.

[00:08:36] However, it seems to be unmanned.

[00:08:38] The door is a jar, and though there are some torches burning beside it, a candle in the window,

[00:08:44] you don't see a soul.

[00:08:46] Barnaby just decided to this journey has been wearing on him.

[00:08:50] Will clasp tightly in his hands.

[00:08:53] The object that is hating from his necklace as he hubs and pups, but mutters something under his breath.

[00:08:59] What do we go here?

[00:09:01] And Barnaby will approach the toolhouse and we'll start to inspect it.

[00:09:06] The driver will pull up on the reins and the horse comes to a stop.

[00:09:09] Roll a two difficulty perception for me, Chris.

[00:09:13] And as you're doing that, the driver will actually look around too and just be like,

[00:09:17] We don't have time to be stopping now and here.

[00:09:20] There should be pressing on through the gauntlet to our ally.

[00:09:23] That's where it was late.

[00:09:24] Just go to me a second.

[00:09:26] While Barnaby is approaching, Barnaby will kind of stand in this wagon getting advantage of looking at this and get his bow ready.

[00:09:35] In case, prepared to act, should anything spring out.

[00:09:39] And Barnaby got one success.

[00:09:42] Okay.

[00:09:43] As you head over to the toll house, everything looks pristine.

[00:09:48] All the bits and bombs are on their places, their proper places on the shelves.

[00:09:53] The candle is light, the papers are neat and stacked.

[00:09:57] The tolls that have been collected are locked away, safe.

[00:10:01] You don't notice anything out of the ordinary.

[00:10:04] And it looks like somebody just freshly abandoned this.

[00:10:07] Or so, we can assume somebody has left.

[00:10:10] There's no trace of whoever was here before.

[00:10:12] Well, just being pragmatic about the situation,

[00:10:15] Not necessarily out of curiosity.

[00:10:17] Is there anything that Barnaby can take?

[00:10:20] That would be useful in their journeys, such as rations or something to that effect?

[00:10:24] Because he thoroughly sees that there's nobody there.

[00:10:26] Just the tolls.

[00:10:27] Barnaby will take a few of those.

[00:10:29] Okay. Three-skilled agree.

[00:10:31] What is that? Two failures and one threat?

[00:10:34] You permanently break the lock on this little toll chest,

[00:10:39] rendering it unopenedable by any means of an absolute brute force.

[00:10:44] Okay. Well, Barnaby is going to kind of send their first second.

[00:10:47] Kind of look around, you know, as a piece of spec this place.

[00:10:51] It will walk on now because nobody's seen this.

[00:10:54] He's like, all right. Nothing to see there.

[00:10:57] Let's go. Let's go. They won't.

[00:11:01] And he'll join the party again.

[00:11:03] The driver will bid the horse forward, though at a slower pace than before.

[00:11:09] Reaper, as you move out of the wide open fields and into the canyon proper,

[00:11:17] you feel little tug at your side and you look down and see the girl.

[00:11:21] Yes?

[00:11:22] There's someone.

[00:11:26] Where?

[00:11:27] Me.

[00:11:31] I suspect there are lots of people who want to you.

[00:11:35] Lots of people now.

[00:11:40] Some one. One.

[00:11:43] They are coming.

[00:11:46] Absolutely.

[00:11:48] Gabriel does, who would have been catching his breath and listening to this,

[00:11:53] is going to look around and just scan the area, scan the surroundings and see if he can see anything.

[00:12:01] Roll an easy perception.

[00:12:03] That is three success and two advantage.

[00:12:06] Nice.

[00:12:07] As you continue on in the canyon, you're a little closer up against the wagon.

[00:12:12] It's narrower here.

[00:12:14] You have a pretty good sight of the way ahead.

[00:12:16] You have a good line on what's behind you and on the cliff sides themselves.

[00:12:22] You see scattered markings, not directly in front of you but a little ways off.

[00:12:28] You can make out in the dark.

[00:12:30] And with those advantage even, I'll say you recognize that it's the use of implements or climbing tools.

[00:12:36] Though they only go about 15-20 feet up before there are kind of shadowed out crawfish.

[00:12:44] Gabriel does, who will very quickly and quietly relay all this information to everyone else.

[00:12:51] And I will say, I'll even spend the story point on his behalf to add this in.

[00:12:56] Unless anyone else has done so, the driver has a solitary torch fixed atop the wagon.

[00:13:02] That is your light.

[00:13:03] I think that Reaper would probably just use his light.

[00:13:06] I think Barnaby definitely would light a torch.

[00:13:09] So knowing all of this, Gabriel does is going to keep walking and he's going to say,

[00:13:14] Zai is an ambush for us.

[00:13:17] Just up ahead, Varatil, you and I should hang back a bit.

[00:13:21] Because I use this cut as bait to us amount and ambush them once they make themselves normal.

[00:13:27] Double checking examining, you know, the points that Gabriel does have pointed out,

[00:13:31] Vaanatil gives a light nod and he'll hop out of the cart actually at that point and progress the rest of the way on foot.

[00:13:39] But looking back just as he hops out, looking at Reaper, I presume you can handle yourself.

[00:13:45] Protect, then you just got emotions to everyone else.

[00:13:49] Reaper will have to spear with a big smile like, yes I can.

[00:13:54] That he could.

[00:13:55] If it's a lot of Barnaby, upon seeing this, we'll extinguish his torch and we'll draw his bow and ready it.

[00:14:02] Okay.

[00:14:03] As we'll go for a dose, and he will meld with the shadows kind of stealth an edge, keeping his eyes open,

[00:14:09] waiting for someone to make an attack as we'll volunteer.

[00:14:14] Great.

[00:14:15] Both of you please roll stealth checks.

[00:14:19] This will be contested vigilance.

[00:14:22] You've got to beat three advantages, what you've got to beat?

[00:14:25] Wow. I got a three success and two advantage.

[00:14:29] And Vaanatil got five success in one advantage.

[00:14:33] The brothers send when become darkness itself.

[00:14:37] I think it's safe to say Barnaby would also go into a stealth kind of scout mode,

[00:14:44] Yeah, with those advantage, you are downwind of the ambushes.

[00:14:48] Thank goodness.

[00:14:49] And stealth.

[00:14:50] Then knowing this is coming, there is a shout followed by two quick thunks as bolts and arrows impact

[00:15:01] the wagon.

[00:15:02] Reaper, the girl, and the driver able to duck easily out of the way, and then you hear rocks

[00:15:09] sliding down the sides of this cliff as you see a few people descend from these outcropings

[00:15:15] and two more appear on the road.

[00:15:17] Everyone roll initiative.

[00:15:20] And this will be cool, because we were expecting it.

[00:15:23] This will be cool because you knew it was coming.

[00:15:26] I got one success.

[00:15:28] I got one success, one advantage.

[00:15:31] Vaanatil got two advantage.

[00:15:33] And Barnaby got two success, three advantage.

[00:15:38] All right.

[00:15:39] The first group of enemies just got two advantage.

[00:15:43] The second group got four successes, and the third group got one success and one advantage.

[00:15:52] The driver will go at the end of every initiative round, and he has just made it clear

[00:15:59] to you all that his only action is going to be going through the gauntlet.

[00:16:04] Moving the cart and the horse forward no matter what's in front of it.

[00:16:07] So with that, it's a group of enemies, two players, a group of enemies, two players, a group of

[00:16:12] enemies, and then we're done.

[00:16:13] This first group will be the ones on the south side of the cliff to your right.

[00:16:19] They unsuccessfully shot at Reaper and the driver before, but now they have a little bit of a better

[00:16:25] bearing on where you are, and they let fly another round.

[00:16:30] With three successes and one threat, that is going to deal seven damage to Reaper.

[00:16:39] Okay, a soq vibe, so two wounds for me.

[00:16:42] As a small crossbow bolt comes down and impacts your shoulder kind of barely scraping by,

[00:16:50] but still inflicting a nasty gash.

[00:16:53] Gavrodos would like to attack one of the enemies.

[00:16:58] To give you a good picture, it seems like there are three individuals that have come out in front

[00:17:04] of the wagon on the road itself.

[00:17:06] The two other groups on the north side and south side kind of on these outcroppings are periodically

[00:17:11] shooting down and taking cover in between shots.

[00:17:14] Okay, so wood since the first group just attacked would they be the most out of cover, they seem to

[00:17:20] have revealed themselves.

[00:17:21] Okay, trusting that Reaper can handle these dudes on the road, Gavrodos is going to take

[00:17:28] aim at one of these people that just fired, having revealed themselves and will let loose

[00:17:34] a shot, so with two success and one threat that will deal a total of nine damage as an arrow

[00:17:46] like barred head just flies from where Gavrodos was hiding straight into one of the assailants

[00:17:53] that have revealed themselves, but with that threat I suppose he might have also revealed

[00:17:58] himself.

[00:17:59] That is true as this arrow whistles out of the dark and up the canyon side, smacking

[00:18:05] into this assailant that shot down at Reaper piercing basically all the way through

[00:18:12] his chest and out the other end, along his body profile, he tumbles down, clattering

[00:18:18] with rock and this barred arrow sticking out of him into a heap at the base of the cliff.

[00:18:24] Dead.

[00:18:25] Not to be outdone by his younger brother, Vanityo will also draw his bow and aim at another

[00:18:31] one of these assailants who has made their presence known.

[00:18:33] So that's the assailants on the south, outcropping or the ones on the road.

[00:18:38] He's going to go for the ones that are closest to their wagon, so the ones on the road.

[00:18:43] And he will attack with one success, three advantage and one triumph.

[00:18:50] You want a crit?

[00:18:52] Yes, I would like to crit with that.

[00:18:55] With my three advantage, I will add 10 to the crit that is starting with the triumph.

[00:18:59] Alright, he rolled a 55 which is a fearsome wound to target increases the difficulty of all

[00:19:05] presence in real power checks by one until the enemy counter, so total he deals 8 damage

[00:19:10] with this arrow shot, streaking through the air and it flicks this fearsome wound.

[00:19:15] Okay, this is what's going to happen with that triumph too.

[00:19:18] Is you down the first guy that this arrow goes into like it must have passed just so serendipitously

[00:19:28] through armor, past bone, through flesh, striking, vital organ and nothing else as it streaks

[00:19:34] through him, out the other side and into its other target, inflicting this fearsome wound.

[00:19:41] The first guy's dead.

[00:19:43] Nice!

[00:19:44] And the second one having suffered this wound seems incapacitated just screaming and writhing on the ground.

[00:19:51] The Sanguin threat apparent, the archers on the north side are going to start shooting.

[00:19:57] One of them shoots down at Gavro Das and that will be 3 successes, so that's going to be 7 damage

[00:20:05] and I will soak up 3 of that.

[00:20:07] And the other one is going to get a boost and with 3 success at 2 advantage, a crossbow bolt will streak down and strike Vanatil

[00:20:18] in this case dealing 6 damage.

[00:20:20] All right, and with 2 sok that will be 4 wounds.

[00:20:23] And that's the end for those guys as they will use those advantage to hunker down again

[00:20:30] giving them near total cover.

[00:20:33] Am I correct Ryan in assuming that we are still moving forward in spite of these men in front of us

[00:20:37] or is the driver anticipating stoppick?

[00:20:40] The driver will not stop under any circumstances.

[00:20:45] Is it possible then for Reaper 2 prepare an action so that as we drive by these men on the road,

[00:21:02] and get down and stand like one foot out of the wagon, sight spear ready to roll just murder in her eyes.

[00:21:13] All right, similar to the same going brothers, Barnaby will attack the one remaining on the south side.

[00:21:22] Go for it.

[00:21:24] And with that I am actually going to spend a story point and I'm going to activate the talent

[00:21:29] of Lucky Strike.

[00:21:30] So let's hope that this works in their medium range correct?

[00:22:01] The enemies on the road will go just this one.

[00:22:05] The other one is incapacitated having suffered this fearsome wound.

[00:22:09] He takes this javelin that he has and he throws it toward the wagon.

[00:22:14] And hits for three successes in one threat as that javelin streaks out.

[00:22:21] It strikes the driver and hits him pretty squarely in the gut.

[00:22:25] Ouch, dealing a good amount of damage.

[00:22:28] But with that threat he is pretty well exposed and unable to move out of the way in time.

[00:22:34] The driver barrels forward.

[00:23:36] Reaper is very encapsulated by the arc of the blood through the air and all the wheels.

[00:23:42] She's very interested in all of us.

[00:23:44] So with that being said, I believe them are back to the top.

[00:23:50] There's one remaining archer on the south side who is going to take a shot at the

[00:23:58] wagon this time at Reaper.

[00:24:00] I've defensive well, so just one.

[00:24:03] All righty then.

[00:24:05] And that will be two failures and three advantage.

[00:24:08] So that bolt just flies and thugs into the wagon, harmlessly at your feet.

[00:24:14] But his friends across the way will definitely have a better beat on whoever they're aiming

[00:24:20] With that guy, you know, popping out of cover.

[00:24:24] Rodas will first aim for got the easy.
